| Personal History | Thomas Chandler was born in 2352 to Starfleet Captain Nathan Chandler and Darrien Chandler. When he turned 17 he entered Starfleet Academy, the family business as some of the Chandlers called it. In 2370 Tom ,during his second year, was assigned to a new unit set up by Vice Admiral Leyton and some others. Tom appreciated the specialized training but there was always something about it that bothered him but he just couldn't put his finger on it. Upon graduation in early 2372, Chandler was assigned to the USS Lakota, an old Excelsior class-refit, that spent most of its time moving from starbase to starbase. He wondered if it had anything to do with him being part of Admiral Leyton's test group for what became Red Squad. But he never found any evidence of this. Nor had he participated in the exercise that had Red Squad disable the global power distribution center in Lisbon, allowing Admiral Leyton to launch his coup attempt. However he was part of the crew of the Lakota that had attacked the USS Defiant. The only person that was punished for this was Captain Erika Benteen. Throught the Dominion war, Chandler served on the Lakota earning various medals for courage and valor. He was promoted to Lt. JG in 2375. In 2378 he was assigned to the USS Valiant, the second Defiant class ship with the name. On April 10th, 2400, Chandler receives orders to return to Spacedock after being in deep space for five years. The Rhode Island arrives just 24 hours after the events of Federation Day. April 17, 2400 is the day that Captain Chandler is given command of the USS Enterprise, as it begins a one-year refit. |
